Dr. Dashiell L. P. Virtullo

Dash is an experimentalist specializing in quantum optics. He got his Ph.D. with Michael Raymer at the University of Oregon investigating spin-orbit interaction in optical fibre and the impacts of nonlinear phase modulation on the quantum states of entangled photon pairs created in optical fibre. He worked with Brian Smith at Oregon to design a source that uses entanglement swapping to generate heralded entangled photon-pairs. He’s working with Sumetsky group on behalf of the U.S. Army Research Laboratory’s quantum communications group under Michael Brodsky on making low-loss tunable SNAP microresonators for quantum networking applications.
